Your lawn occupies the majority of the visual space within a landscape, and installing sod provides the quickest solution to having the greenest and thickest lawn on the block. Our Atlanta sod installation team has a refined process for projects to ensure your new lawn has the highest chance of success.
Nearly all sod projects begin with the removal of the existing material which could consist of your old lawn, worn out landscaping, debris, brush or trees. Our crews use the proper equipment to extract what is in place and will haul away the material. The next step is grading out the area if it is needed in order to set up a proper slope so water runs away from structures or to a designated drainage area. Following yard grading, a layer of topsoil is added (primarily for newly-built homes and business properties where there was no topsoil present).
After the topsoil installation and grading comes soil conditioning. This can involve tilling, Harley raking or cultivating in order to loosen up the soil’s surface allowing for air penetration and easier rooting, or to mix the two soils together.
Lastly, our crew lays the new sod rolls, staggering the joints, cutting pieces to fit where the lawn area meets landscape beds, trees, fences, driveways, etc. Then our crews clean up the work area and our project manager will provide advice for watering your new lawn so it can thrive!
